Former synagogue and Jewish Quarter

The Jewish quarter and cemetery are proof of a  long tradition of Jewish culture in town. The synagogue was built in 1783. During the Third Reich its interior was completely destroyed. After the war the building, devalued for the Jewish cultural community, was used alternately as a gym, a cinema and a supermarket. A circle of committed citizens of Haigerloch bought the building and had it restored. Today there is a museum with a permanent exhibition of the Haus der Geschichte BadenWürttemberg about the history  of Jewish life in Hohenzollern. The Jewish Cemetery is situated at the entrance of the Haag-quarter. It can be visited throughout the year.
